Series Title: "Controversial Jesus"
Sunday March 2 - March 21, 2008
The history books record that Jesus Christ was born, lived, died and rose again approximately 2000 years ago. In so doing, he started a movement of faith that is still alive today, with more people aligning themselves with Christianity than any other religion in the world. While he was here, he taught love, peace and justice – all wonderful things. And yet, he was the most controversial person alive in his day. He still is. He is the most controversial person, by far, who has ever lived. Why? What makes Jesus of Nazareth bring up such high emotion in people the world over? This series will tell you.
Sunday, March 2 "and His audacity"
We know Jesus was a good man and a good teacher. But was that all he was – just a man? Jesus said himself no, he was much more than that…much, much more. He had the audacity to say that he was God himself. Want to cause some controversy? Start telling people that you are God! Was Jesus telling the truth? Or was he crazy. Jesus’ teaching was revolutionary and countercultural. It still is. In this message we will take a look at what made the words of Jesus so controversial.

Jesus said many controversial statements during his three years of ministry. None more so than what he said about his, and our, future. He said first that he would die and then three days later rise from the dead. And if that weren’t enough, he then said that he would come again. Wow! Was he right? Did he rise from the dead? Is he, really, coming back again some day. Here is the controversial evidence that he spoke the truth.
